By the numbers

The total number of students transported daily to and from Rome's schools is as follows:

Elementary

 More than 1,800

Upper Elementary

 More than 800

Middle School

 More than 800

High School

 More than 1,800

In addition to daily busing to and from school, transportation is an integral part of the Rome City School District's extracurricular and interscholastic programs. Academic field trips also enhance students' learning and are scheduled throughout the academic year by each building to various cultural locations and educationally-based sites.

Dollars and sense

The Rome City School District's state-aid ratio for transportation-eligible expenditures is 90%.  For example, if the school district spends $100 for transportation-eligible expenses, the following year the school district will receive $90 back in transportation aid.  This example is according to the current state-aid formula.
